The Audio Concept was setup in 2005 by John Hutchinson to provide highest quality audio production to a wide variety of artists spanning many genres. Recent clients have included Sound Collective, Alberti Brass, The McFarlane String Quartet, The Thorne Trio, Simon Cheney (Trumpet), Eira Lynn Jones (Harp) and Tim Thorpe (Horn).
In 2008, in order to offer management and marketing assistance to artists, The Audio Concept added a record label to its remit. Alberti Brass’ Ángel was officially released in early 2009 to critical acclaim and was followed later in the year by the debut CD from horn-player, Tim Thorpe. August 2010 sees the release of ‘An English Trumpeter’ a CD of music for Trumpet, Piano and Soprano from Simon Cheney.
2010 also welcomes a new and exciting partnership with Prozone Music Recordings, allowing in-house access to the highest possible digital audio production. In return, The Audio Concept can provide label and marketing support to all of Prozone’s existing music production clients.

Once upon a time, the primary role of a major label was to secure you a great distribution deal with a major distributor who would in turn place your record in many high street shops. All recording artists now, no matter what their profile or genre, are finding that the digital age has leveled the playing field. Digital delivery (such as mp3 downloads) and online CD sales have completely eclipsed the high street.
This is where independent labels such as The Audio Concept come into their own. We secure online digital placement (through sites such as iTunes) and concentrate on a much more targeted approach for CD sales. Where are you performing?- We target outlets in that area where your audience is likely to shop. We also push for reviews/previews in national and local press and radio to coincide with your performances, not only improving CD sales but having a knock-on effect with your ticket sales. We can also provide support and promotion setting up concerts and tours.
